My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoya is laid back and very low key. If you want a companion to come home to, hang out with, and go on nice ambling strolls she's the gal for you. Enjoying a nice evening on the patio with you or curling up on her dog bed while you relax inside is Zoya's idea of the dream life. Zoya truly lives by the motto of don't let life pass you by- slowly savor each moment by stopping to smell the flowers and relax in the nice warm sunbeam.

This sweet older lady's health continues to improve. Zoya has gained weight and her fur is growing back. She's now 49#. Spring has sprung some new alertness into her. I was out of town and when I picked her up from my friend's house she had a nice happy tail wag when one of her doggy foster siblings hopped out of the car to say hi.

Zoya is still eating her special allergy food (Hydrolyzed protein) with tylan powder and probiotics for her Irritable Bowl Disease (IBD). She now has her B12 injection every other week which soon will go to monthly- she is great and patiently stands there for her injection without any complaints. Due to her weak immune system she developed a bit too much bacteria and yeast on her skin so she's on antibiotics for that and also using medicated shampoo and a new regime to help keep her comfortable. In another 2 or so weeks we'll know how well it's helping, but preliminary results point to a more comfortable sweet Zoya!

Zoya is now vaccinated and starting to go on some field trips. She loves sniffing and exploring her environment with her nose- she finds such joy in taking in all the scents! On Sunday she went on a nice outdoor stroll through a hilly field and she went a bit less than 1/2 mile- yay Zoya! We were all very proud of her- the furthest she's gone- her strength is improving! This is all great news for Zoya. Zoya has met some new people and dogs and continues to be as sweet as can be around everyone.

Zoya is doing well! She's made great improvement and is hoping to find a family! Her fur is growing back and she is gaining weight. She likes her food and doesn't mind the tylosin and probiotics sprinkled on her food. She's fine with her B12 injections too. She is still itchy, but we are working on remedying that for her.
Zoya is a very sweet girl who likes ear and neck rubs. She continues to find plush dog beds a luxury and thinks there's no better place to spend her time. Zoya is fine around dogs and kids and I've yet to see anything other then her gentle, calm personality.
Zoya is hoping for a family that wants to share their home with an older gal who loves naps and just hanging out. She doesn't require much exercise. For her safety, since she doesn't always hear well, Zoya will need a fenced yard or to be on leash when outside. If you have it in your heart to give a sweet old girl love and a comfy place to day dream please contact her foster home.

Zoya continues to be a sweet older lady. A few times Zoya has had a bouncy step and picked up the pace happily showing she's feeling better and stronger!

Zoya has inflammatory bowl disease (upper intestine) and suspected food allergies. Due to this she's on special food, Tyalsin, an antibiotic, and probiotics to help her digest food so she can get the needed nutrients. Zoya also has low vitamin B12 levels and is getting a B12 supplement. She just started the B12 and Tyalsin. In a few weeks she'll go back to the vet for a recheck of her blood work and hopefully get vaccinated.

Zoya did have the opportunity to meet some new people and dogs. She liked the people and didn't care about the dogs. She did like walking around and exploring the new location. Once she's vaccinated Zoya will be going on more field trips. From what I've seen I suspect this mellow girl will go with the flow.

The next few weeks will be working on Zoya gaining weight and hopefully growing fur! We also will start to do some exercises so she can strengthen and build muscles so she's more confident walking around and going up/down stairs. Outside of that Zoya will continue to love sleeping on the plush dog beds (and dreading baths and nail trims). Zoya would like everyone to know that if anyone is a "snow bird" she wouldn't mind wintering in warm weather! She does not appreciate being roused from a warm bed to go out in the cold for the last potty break before bed time. She grudgingly goes out, but wishes she could stay curled on her bed.

Zoya is a sweet older lady currently working with her vet and foster home to get healthy and strong. She’ll have more info available in a few weeks (mid to late February).
