Hi! My name is Stella! I'm a beautiful 8 year old female yorkie weighing approx. 7 lbs. I spent the first 8 years of my life in a puppy mill and have now been given the freedom to find a loving forever home. Life outside the mill has been so wonderful! I now get to sleep on soft blankets, eat nutritious food, feel clean and fresh, and most importantly receive LOVE!
I'm a cuddly little girl who enjoys snuggling up to other dogs in my foster home as well as my foster parents. I'm a little shy about being picked up, but know that my foster parents won't hurt me. It's just hard to break the habit of fearing human hands coming at you, but I'm getting better. My time in the mill took its toll on my dental condition. My mouth was so neglected that my jaw actually fractured due to the weakness from having rotting teeth. I have since had my teeth cleaned, the rotten ones removed, and my jaw repaired. I feel like a new girl! I have four teeth remaining, but I can eat my tiny kibble just fine, and oh it's soooo yummy!
Since being rescued, I've been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative), dewormed, vaccinated, and had a dental cleaning. I'm being fed a high-quality food that doesn't contain any corn, wheat, soy, meat by-products or other low-quality ingredients, and I hope my new family will keep me on a high-quality food for the rest of my life. I'm being fostered in Barneveld, WI, and my adoption fee is $250. I would prefer a quiet home where I can be held and cuddled. Another dog would be fine as long as he/she isn't one that wants to wrestle and play all the time. I'd prefer to just cuddle with other dogs and people. The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs on planes or send them on transports. Adopters need to come to the foster home to adopt.
