My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet happy, bouncy, friendly Miley! Little Miley is a very petite "pocket lab" at only about 37 lbs. and full grown. Miley is estimated to be 1-2 years old, and is a lab mix, but we have no idea what she is mixed with that makes her so petite. She is pure black with a small white stripe on her chest and a single white toe.

Miley has had a very long journey from a high kill shelter in the bayou of Louisiana to our rescue in Maryland, where it was discovered that she had the dreaded heartworm that is so prevalent in Louisiana dogs. We have had Miley fully vetted, spayed, all vaccines, and her heartworm has been treated. She is also on flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, has been dewormed, and is microchipped. She is completely healthy and ready for adoption into an active home.

Being a young lab, Miley is eager to show you her skills that include expert counter surfing, talking to tell you she wants something, amazing athletic prowess, and her overzealous greetings when her people come home to include four-paw hugs and taking you by the hand to bring you inside. Miley's new owner must understand and have experience with young lab behaviors, and must be patient and have a wonderful sense of humor - because Miley will keep you laughing from the first moment you meet her! Because she has boundless energy, she is hoping for a human who runs or does daily exercise that she can participate in on a regular basis. Miley gets along well with other dogs who understand she is a young lab who is rambunctious and loves to play. She prefers a home with at least one other very active dog that loves to play, but will settle for a running partner. She adores children of all ages, but due to her eager and boundless excitement and energy, families with very small children are discouraged from applying, because Miley may accidentally knock over a very small child, and has not completely outgrown her mouthiness.

Miley is completely housebroken, and is super smart! She has already mastered basic commands including come, sit, down (lie down) and off. Miley sleeps with her foster mom in her bed, and is extremely well behaved in the house. She sleeps through the night, and is not destructive, provided she gets exercise and entertainment, as well as plenty of things she is allowed to chew.

Interested adopters, please email MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com to request an adoption application. Vet and personal references, meet and greet, and home visit are required. Miley's adopters will be thoroughly screened for suitability. Adoption fee applies.
