Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lancelot is a 3 year old sweet, energetic young boy. Lance found himself at a local kill shelter and passed his evaluation with flying colors but sadly, sitting in his small kennel for almost 4 months took it's toll on him and he let staff know that he did not want to be there anymore.
Once out of the shelter, he returned to his normal, sweet self. He has been living in a foster home for almost 2 years now all the while awaiting his forever home. Lance has been overlooked numerous times and we cannot understand why. He is so easy to manage and he is so much fun! We believe one possible reason he has been overlooked is due to the fact that he prefers to play with his toys vs. a person. Lance loves to play with his tether tug and his light up ball and can spend hours amusing himself in the yard. However, when he's done playing, and after he has bonded to you, he does like to snuggle beside you on the couch. Some of his greatness doesn't shine through upon first meeting him but if given the chance, he will show you what a wonderful family member he can be. He is not a needy dog, which we think is a huge plus, because he doesn't require constant attention and interaction.
At 3 years old he knows basic commands, is crate trained, house trained and walks nicely on a leash. For a younger dog, he is quite calm and greets people politely without jumping. Lance has excellent dog skills and gets along with most dogs he meets. He could easily go into a home with another dog. He is way too cat focused so he needs a cat-free home. He would do fine in a home with children 10+ but is a bit too much for younger children mainly because when he's playing and running around he can forget what he's doing and even though only 60 lbs., can knock children over in his excitement. He has never shown any signs of aggression with people or dogs so we have no concerns about that at all.
After 2 years in foster care, we feel it's time for Lance to have his own forever home. We are hoping 2016 is his year! If you are interested in a dog who can be part of the family without draining you of time and energy, check Lance out! He's a little bundle of fun and we just know the right family is out there who can appreciate his awesome personality!
