1/3/09 - The early morning started off no differently than any of the others for Melvin. The sun was shining, the air radiated with an aroma of sweetness and there was really no reason in the world why Melvin needed to stay home....so he thought. Soooo, Melvin wasted no time packing up his water filled canteen and trail mix and headed out west. Well, let's just say west because that was the direction he turned when leaving out of his driveway, but hey, isn't that the direction we would all want to go if we were going to hit the dusty trail?

A few minutes into his journey, Melvin just couldn't believe he hadn't taken advantage of getting out on his own sooner because of all the fun he was having. So many people to see, dogs to bark at, cars to chase, trash to dig in and good ole smelly things to roll in. Wow, what a life and a dog's life at that!

Well, unfortunately that "wow of a life" was short lived and Melvin's journey came to an abrupt halt. Sadly, this time, Melvin's idea of romping into the sunset was still only a dream. Poor little Melvin was corralled by the doggy police and ended up in the Yorkie Kingdom's Second Chance facility. Thankfully, Melvin's BIG 'telling' eyes won over all the animal control officers. They thought he was just the cutest little non-Yorkie fella they had seen in a very long time. They loved his facial expressions and just knew that Princess Carly would be happy to help him out. And they were right!

It didn't take long for Melvin to settle in and make himself right at home. Melvin is an extremely laid back little boy and his very favorite thing to do is roll over on his back for belly rubs! All you have to do is look at Melvin and he will roll over and wag his tail, but of course, he wants a belly rub in return. Melvin is also a very quiet pupster as you never hear him bark at anything. He obviously leaves that task up to the Yorkies while he just sits back and looks cute! At this time Melvin is not housetrained. He does get along with other dogs, but we are unsure how he would react around cats. Melvin is desperately looking for his forever loving family and although he is not a Yorkie, he is truly a wonderful boy with a very loving and gentle soul.

ORIGINAL BIO: Hi! I am Melvin and I am an adorable yorkie-mix. I am looking for a loving family to call my own. My foster mom will write more about me real soon, so please check back often. I hope you will open your hearts and home to a sweet boy like me!
