My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! Our names are Elsie and Mitsie. We're a bonded pair of bichons who need to go to a home together. We are both very happy, friendly, outgoing bichons! I, Elsie, am 5 years old and weigh approx. 11 lbs. and my buddy, Mitsie, is 4 years old and weighs approx. 13 lbs. My rescuer will tell you that she'll never forget the first time she saw Mitsie and me. We had been released from a puppy mill a couple days prior, and when our rescuer, who is also our foster mom, came to pick us up, we were so happy to meet her even though we were a bit shy at first. It didn't take long for us to figure out this was a good thing to be going home with her. Since being rescued, we've learned so much about how wonderful it is to live in a home as a family pet. We both LOVE to be outside in the fenced yard at our foster home. Being free from living in a cage is amazing! Both Mitsie and I like to stand on our back legs and do the wave with our front legs when we're excited to see our foster parents or anyone who comes for a visit. One thing Mitsie does that is especially cute and makes our foster mom laugh every morning is she just storms out the patio door so happy to be up to start a new day. My foster parents think we are both just adorable and very sweet!

We really need to go to a home with a fenced yard so we can continue to enjoy that freedom to run like the wind while still being safe. Mitsie and I sleep together in a kennel at night in our foster parents' bedroom, we cuddle together during the day, and we just really enjoy each other's companionship. We both just need a home with someone who truly enjoys the joyful bichon personality, because Mitsie and I sure have it according to my rescuer! We are the kind of dogs who wants to be with their people all the time, so a home where we're not left alone long hours is important too.

Since being rescued we've been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative) and put on preventative, dewormed, vaccinated, and had dental cleanings. We're being fed a high-quality food that doesn't contain any corn, wheat, soy, meat by-products, or other low-quality ingredients, and we hope our new family will continue to feed us a high-quality food for the rest of our lives. We're being fostered in Barneveld, WI, and our combined adoption fee is $550. If you're interested in adopting Mitsie and I, please contact Margaret at loveforbichons@gmail.com to request an application.

The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not ship dogs on planes or send them on transports. Adopters need to come to the foster home to adopt.
