My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mellow is a Special Adopt: Please read bio in full.

This 1 year old Am Staff/American Bulldog mix is a friendly boy who is very smart and very trainable. We rescued him and a few other dogs from a pretty bad breeding situation, and he is a little timid as a result. Since arriving at the shelter, he's really soaked up the love he's getting from people and his confidence is increasing. Mellow will succeed fastest in a home with an experienced big dog owner; an ideal situation would be with someone who is home more often than not because he gets anxious when left alone for long periods. Mellow is looking for an adult-only home. He's a little selective with his dog friends, so as with all our adoptions, he'd need to meet your dog if you already have one. If you, or someone you know, are a big dog lover who would like to give Mellow the kind of life and love he should have had all along, come meet him. For more info you can also e-mail trainer@spca914.org.

Unless noted differently above, you can come in anytime during our hours to meet and/or adopt! Our hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday's 1pm-4pm. No appointment necessary. Our address is 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510. We do same day adoptions pending approval. To obtain an Adoption Application, please copy and paste the following link into your computer browser: http://www.spca914.org/forms/dogadopt2015.doc or email Lisa@spca914.org. You may also visit our website at www.spca914.org or just fill out an Application when you get here.

Please note, we do NOT hold animals, nor do we accept deposits in advance. Even if you have discussed coming in to meet an animal or have an approved Application with us this does not necessarily guarantee you will get that particular puppy or dog. Also note, even if approved to adopt from us, if you have a dog(s) at home they MUST meet the dog(s) you are interested in adopting from here to ensure they get along before you can officially adopt. All Dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (age appropriate) and come with a free 7 day Veterinarian check from a participating Vet!

High Kill Shelter/Southern Rescues, both Puppies and Adults are $350, All Puppies are $350 and Local Stray Adults over 1 year of age are $200-$350. Seniors and Lonely Hearts Club members are $75. Please visit: http://www.spca914.org/adoptanimal.htm to read our Adoption Policy and Procedures in full.
