===================================================

Hi!

My name is Agnes. I know my name and my nickname “Aggie”, too.

I am a female, 6 months old, black Great Dane puppy.

To tell you my story, I was dumped at the end of someone's driveway with her brother and two sisters before she came in to her foster home.

When I was first separated from my siblings, I was very anxious and scared. Luckily, I have a great foster momma and I bonded with her, then my foster doddy. I will follow one of them everywhere, depending on who is home with me.

I do very well with kids of all ages!

I get along with smaller dogs and cats and my favorite buddy in the pack is a larger Great Dane female that looks like me! We play and pester each other for fun. My foster parents would find us resting while spooning each other or on the floor.

I like to have something to do, so I will look for whatever is fun to play with.  I have toys, and I’ve been given small rawhides to keep me busy (which I love!). Sometimes, I think it’s more interesting and fun to take the kids' stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, and shoes. That’s when my foster momma have to remind me that those are “No No” items. *sighs*

When I’m given plenty of opportunity to choose the right items, I’m told that I’m a good girl while I chew my own stuff.

I am sensitive to loud noises and loud corrections.  You see, I’m worried that it means I will be punished physically and I cower, which is something I may have learned to expect in my previous home.

I am not leash trained yet, so I really get scared when I see hands coming my way when my foster parents are trying to put the collar and leash on. I don’t quite understand yet that they’re only trying to train and guide me. Plus, I’m scared that if I leave for a walk, I’d never get back home. My foster momma reassures me that I’ll come back home after each walks. Don’t worry, I’m working on myself to learn to like my collar and leash so I can be a good dog for you to walk!

Because I am still a growing puppy, I eat several mini-meals, with a total of 8-9 cups of dog food per day. I get easily distracted by activities, so I’ll need a few minutes of quiet time so I can focus on my meal. Because I came to my foster home being hungry and underweight, I am filling out very well! My ribs are not nearly as pronounced when I first came to my foster home.

I am good with “Sit” before my meals. I learned that from my foster canine (a beagle).

I like going upstairs to see what my foster children are doing in the playroom. I always hope to see if I can steal their stuffed animal buddy to chew on!

I am learning the following commands:
“Sit”, “Down”, “Stay”, “Paw” and “Go Potty”.

I know the “Go Potty” command very well. Problem is, I keep thinking my foster parents wants me to go potty right literally right this second! So, I’m always being rushed out to the backyard. Do you think I should remind them to tell me to outside first and then go potty?

I am almost crate-trained but I know how to get my foster momma to “lure” me into the crate by providing me some loves. I love that! I now sleep all night with very little whimpering and having a blanket draped over me really helps! I did escaped from the crate in the early days but, not anymore.

This is what my foster momma has to say about me ——

As Aggie grows into an adult and loses that somewhat frenetic puppy energy of hers that makes it hard to communicate with her, she will truly do well in ANY loving environment of ANY combination of humans, dogs, and cats.

She has no issue with anyone and just wants to love and play.

She needs to learn to trust her people and that leaving home doesn't mean she isn't coming back.

She also needs to work hard on her potty training and make sure that she signals to her humans when she needs to go outside rather than just drop and do her business inside the house without warning.

More importantly, building trust with her people will be a necessity for her to grow in a new home.
