My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leah (formerly known as Banapes) is being fostered in Burlington, Ontario. Here is her story:

THEY THREATENED TO “GET RID OF” ME… WILL YOU PLEASE ADOPT ME AND KEEP ME SAFE FOREVER?

My name is Banapes; I am a beautiful girl who is only about a year old.

Once upon a time, I was a happy dog. As a stray dog, I was free to roam and I hung around near some houses where people would put food out for me. There were kids living in some of these houses and they would play with me every day. I loved to trot after them when they rode their bicycles.

The black day came when other people who lived in the houses threatened to get rid of me. They did not want me hanging around. I don’t know why. I was so happy in my territory. I was even friends with a cat that lived at one of the houses.

A lady who lived nearby heard the bad people talking about how they were going to get rid of me. She was very scared they would poison me because that happens a lot in Thailand, so she called Soi Dog.

I didn’t know what was happening when the Soi Dog car came and picked me up. I cried the whole way to the shelter.

I have lost my freedom. I miss the children I played with. I miss the territory I knew. I even miss the cat. Now I am in a shelter with hundreds of other dogs. They ignore me for the most part, but I am not happy here.

I am only a young girl, with so much love to give. When I am comfortable with one of the volunteers standing beside me, I like to lean hard against their leg. It makes me feel secure. It makes me feel loved.

The other dogs here talk about animals that have left here for places like the US, Canada and Europe. I dream of the same, but am so scared I will now be forgotten.

PLEASE adopt me. I have so much to offer - please don’t leave me in a shelter. I love nothing more than human contact and company; will you please let me love you?

My name is Banapes. Please take me into your heart and home. Please allow me to love you.
