My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Where are the pets of HURRICANE KATRINA now? One is here at CASA.

TASHA recently came to CASA as an owner surrender. Her history is a bit scattered and she seems to have found herself in a few different homes along the way, but one thing was reiterated many times, Tasha is a HURRICANE KATRINA SURVIVOR who was transported to WA with hundreds of other displaced pets. Unfortunately we are unaware of exactly which organization placed her because she was not microchipped at that time. She was surrendered to CASA through no fault of her own. We were told that she had not seen a vet in a number of years and when she arrived, this was clear. Tasha is as sweet as they come and also as worse for wear as they come. She is missing a large majority or her hair, has very bad arthritis especially in her rear legs/hips, causing her to avoid using one of those legs most of the time. She has irritated and infected skin areas over her entire body and head. Her skin is clearly very itching and uncomfortable. Thankfully she scraped clean during a mite check and we are optimistic that any changes we make will help her improve. She is now on a high quality diet, joint supplements, pain management, and is receiving any other medical care she may need for her issues. We are already seeing improvement in Tasha and we hope her skin can clear up and that the additional care allows her to feel better very soon. Her eyes seemed quite sad when we first met her, but she truly seems like she knows things are looking up now. Tasha is in foster care with one of our shelter staff and is stealing the hearts of everyone she meets. You can see more photos of Tasha on our website. Please check back for progress updates on this special girl.

If you would like to contribute to the care of Tasha and other animals like her please consider making a donation to CASA. Our organization is able to help animals like Tasha because of generous donations from people like you. CASA is a 501(c)(3) organization; contributions are tax deductible.
