My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here I lay, broken hearted, sad, confused, alone and possibly discarded. Found wandering on the roadside – wondering where my home is – where's my shelter, my bed, my bowl? This life's journey has taken it’s toll. What happened to my human friend? Will I ever know love again? This sweet, gentle senior soul was found on 50th Avenue just south of 20 mile and is hopeful for a chance at a loving quiet home. We believe him to be a yellow lab hound. We would love nothing more than to provide this deserving dog “BARNEY” a happily ever after. BARNEY had a viewing Tuesday with a wonderful lady who loves senior dogs and he’s hoping she will decide he’s right for her! BARNEY does have two small tumors as most labs get in their advanced years – BUT other than that, he appears to be in good health, goes outside to potty and is a true quiet, gentle soul. BARNEY DOES do well with cats, as he was introduced to HENRY the resident cat this morning at Country Vet’s Office! Barney went to the Country Vet’s Office today when the one bump on his hind end broke open.

It does NOT seem to bother him but we wanted it checked out before adopting him. Could be just a cyst or possibly a tumor – BARNEY is now on antibiotics but the vet is recommending removal. His prostrate looks okay so that’s NOT of concern. Cost for removal only (without biopsy) with Anesthesia, antibiotics, etc is $148.00. Estimate for neuter is between $90.00 - $120.00 (which may as well be done at the same time eliminating the need to put him under yet again) Vet found a BB IN the tissue of his right ear, possibly from an old hunting injury – and two bumps on his chest area smaller in size – which will need to be watched - but don’t seem to bother him at this time. BARNEY does have the initials “PM” on his hind leg which appears to be an old tattoo – possibly an old ID for hunting? We are considering the surgery but want to be SURE he has an adopter waiting for him upon his release so that he can rest easy in the comfort of a LOVING home and not on a blanket and cement floor of our shelter. Interested adopters should come and visit him to be sure they are committed to his continued recovery care. We would LOVE for this gentle deserving soul to be granted the chance at knowing a loving home once again.
