My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lacy is fostered in Lancaster Texas 75146 through United Yorkie Rescue. To find out more about Lacy contact her foster momma: Lturner0409@yahoo.com Lacy is a sweet 8 pound, 8 year old Yorkie surrendered in August 2015 to the San Antonio shelter with her sister, Macy. Both girls were used for breeding and considering she wasn't socialized or taken care of, she's a wonderful little girl. Fairly shy, loud noises such as the hair dryer or vacuum that are very scary to her, otherwise she's a snuggler and wants to be right with you wherever you go. She's been in her foster home for several weeks now and is starting to adjust to the 'good life'. Lacy is learning what healthy regular scheduled meals are, sleeping in a warm comfortable at night, having a private kennel to go to when desired, and outside is where potty is completed. She loves to lay by you but is not yet comfortable with close cuddles and picking up, which will take time as she learns what love is and touches are good things to desire, not be afraid of. Lacy didn't have exposure to being able to play or knowing what toys are, so these are areas that she'll grow into overtime. Despite everything being so new, Lacy has learned to walk well on a leash, however she has to be watched carefully as she's a flight risk with being scared of noises and being fearful yet she WILL try to run off to escape, which means any activity must be guarded so she doesn't get off leash or through a door and will require a fenced yard to keep her safe. Lacy doesn't like to be left alone and will cry, and does bark on occasion, but is getting more and more used to her foster family. She's also very polite when she takes a treat. Sadly, due to the neglectful care Lacy received most of her life, Lacy was Heartworm Positive when she came into rescue. She's been on the long road of treatment, which is costly, and requires a quiet low key environment and has recently tested HW NEGATIVE.
