My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys. My name is Bacon. If you'll look into my eyes, you will see just how much pain and fear I have endured in my short life. I am barely 1 year old, and I was dumped out in the middle of nowhere at approximately 4 months old, with another dog, about the same age. I found a farm where I could scavenge for food, and I settled in there. For almost 8 months, I had no human contact, I just lived with my friend Waffles in the middle of the woods. Finally, when I had puppies someone finally spotted me, and called on The Halfway House Animal Rescue. I had not been touched by humans in so long, that I was absolutely terrified. The rescue group had to move my puppies into a pen, and wait for me to find my babies, and then shut me in. Despite my terror, I have never once been aggressive, mean, or snappy. I just froze in fear. I have been with an amazing foster mommy and foster sister (with 4 legs) for several months and I have made such great progress! I love to run with my foster sissy! My foster mom also says I do really well on a leash and enjoy long walks. Because I was a stray, my rescue does not know much about my breed, but I appear to be a gorgeous Flat-Coated Retriever. With nutrition, love, and care, my coat has grown to be shiny and beautiful and I am now at a healthy weight. I do very well with other dogs, as they have always been my only interaction. I am very calm and do okay with cats here at The Halfway House Animal Rescue as well. Please don't overlook me because I was thrown away as a puppy. I'm waiting for you to put in an application on me today! I am UTD on shots, HW negative, on flea/tick medication, hw preventative, microchipped, and spayed. Thank you for taking the time to read about me!
