My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Sally is currently living in Houston and is available for local or out-of-town adoption.**

Gentle, shy, beautiful, delightful and deserving are the most commonly used adjectives when speaking of our dear Sally. She was found by one of our friends, outside of her workplace in a very busy area of Houston, Texas. She was so weak and hungry that she wouldn't even get up to walk. She is quiet and shy, but it is obvious upon first meeting her that she’s such a beautiful spirit and amazingly gentle.

Sally is a Hound//Staffordshire mix, weighs about 38 pounds and is estimated at 1.5 years old. After seeing her photos, we just knew that we would help that girl find her new life. Although she is still pretty shy, she has come so far from the first few days and we believe that she's ready to find a very loving family to help her continue on her amazing journey. We are certain that with a loving family, she will adjust quickly and

Sally is calm and mild with everyone she meets. She has met several children, even a 2 year old, who have all had a very sweet experience with her. The toddler she met just recently was petting her and Sally gave her several kisses on her arms and cheek. She is timid with fast movements and loud noises still, but her reaction is to hunker down rather than act out. She’s such a loving girl and we know there is someone that is her perfect companion.

Upon her rescue, she was diagnosed with a skin condition, but she's been taking her medication and her skin is looking so much better and her fur is growing back. It’s remarkable what a little TLC and attention can do for a pup. She’s so appreciative of the care and it shows in her actions with her caregivers.

Sally is good with other dogs and plays in a large dog pack several times during the day. She has a best friend that is also more on the submissive side and they are constantly playing together. She is clearly one of the more submissive pups in that play group, but it consists of all kinds of personalities, breeds and sizes so it is clear that she is neutral and will get along well with all others. She rarely initiates play, but will play with them when she's engaged by others. One of her submissive traits is that she licks the other dogs on the face as her "please accept me" move. She is kind and sweet to the other dogs too.

Quirks aren’t uncommon for dogs that have lived and had to survive as strays. Sally came to us with one. She growls at other dogs that walk by her kennel during meal time. It is her way of protecting her food, which is not surprising considering the extremely thin condition she was in when she was rescued. She may still feel that her next meal is not guaranteed. Her caretakers just always feed her in her kennel to ensure that she eats and everyone stays safe.

Sally’s ideal family is calm, active and has another furry companion that will take her under their wing. She needs a patient and understanding family that will allow her to transition into their lives. She will be the most loyal companion and hold an enormous place in the hearts of her new family. A backyard would be fantastic so she can slowly grow into leash walking on the busier streets. We would like for her to get to bond with her family at home and play in the yard before she heads out to broaden her horizons.

Sally is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and although a bit on the shy side…would love a family to adopt her and show her what being an important member of the family is all about. She is currently living in Houston and available for local or out-of-town adoption. Her adoption fee is $300 for in state and $500 for out of state. If you’d like to meet Sally via video chat, she’ll clear her schedule for you. If you have some extra space in your home and in your heart for Sally, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org.
