My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Hank is currently being fostered by a loving family in Houston and is available for local or out-of-town adoption!*

We are so excited to introduce Hank to everyone! This adorable 6 month old puppy is eagerly waiting to meet his new family! Hank is a Cattle Dog/ Labrador mix, currently 41 pounds and expected to be about 55 as a full grown boy. Hank was found as a tiny baby with his brother by one of our friends while she was on vacation in Louisiana. His brother found a home immediately with one of her family members in Louisiana, but Hank wanted to meet the Texans and so he took a road trip and ended up back here with us. It’s our turn to find Hank a perfect new life and lots of love.

Hank has been doing so well since the day he arrived. He’s sweet, smart and amazingly handsome! This happy boy is much like any pup, loves to run and play, enjoys exploring and is super quick to learn new tasks. He has adjusted wonderfully to his foster home, is potty trained and crate trained. He doesn’t mind staying in his crate with a toy when needed, but obviously this pup would rather be by your side.

Hank adores all dogs and loves to play and continuing to be a social butterfly. He currently lives with two other dogs, both Labradors, whom keep him busy with outdoor play and exercise! They all go for walks together every night and he walks alongside them as if he’s been in the pack his whole life. He adapted so quickly to them and we would love to see him have a big dog brother or sister in his new family too.

Hank LOVES water activities! The beach, trails along a creek and any body of water would be a blast for him and entertaining for his new family. He’s learned this trait from the Labs he lives with and they’ve taught him many other great things too, like loving children. He’s a great family dog and will be sure to find a new best friend in any child. Hank doesn’t mind riding in the car at all, and though can be timid at first, warms up and enjoys himself quickly. He has a great time in the pet stores and has done well on his trips to the vet, although it’s not his favorite stop.

He is a typical puppy-full of fun-filled adventures and energy. When he’s inside the house he knows the rules pretty well and will play with the other dogs or by himself with a toy in his bed. He lays down when he eats his kibble, and is almost always nearby his friends learning and building confidence. Hank loves his toys and considers all of them his favorites. He loves his Nylabone, rope toy, Kong toy and tennis balls all equally and would like one of each to share with his friends in his new family. He also loves treats, any kind is fine there too, including ice cubes. He likes to put both of his front feet in your lap and get loved on. Occasionally Hank thinks he is a lap dog, but once he’s gotten his pets, he will be on to the next activity. He meets new people pretty well, but can be a little shy sometimes which he shows by tucking his tail, but comes around when he feels safe. His confidence will grow with more positive experiences with new friends.

Hank learned to come to his name being called, was crate trained, learned to walk pretty well on a leash and learned to potty outdoors in just one month in his foster home. He’s very smart and is eager to please, so training should be a fun and easy for his pup. Hank is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, is microchipped, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention for heartworm and fleas. His adoption fee is $300. If this pup is the perfect addition to your family, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org OR go to www.reggiesfriends.org under the Adoptables tab to fill out an application.
