My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This wily diva wants to sneak her way into your home. FOXY is a Corgi/Shiba Inu mix around 5 years old and 22 pounds. The STAR of our training classes, this little show off will do anything for a treat! Foxy clearly has her handler, Nick, wrapped around her little paw and rules the roost. Loving and devoted, Foxy is a great cuddler and loves to be near you. She will strongly bond with her people, and would thrive in a home where she can be the princess. With her adorable foxy face and fluffy corgi butt, it won’t take her long to add you to her court.

Foxy is available for adoption immediately and will be able to go to her forever home after graduation. Come meet Foxy as soon as you can because this smart girl is going to be a popular pick!

Foxy is part of the Canine CellMates program at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA that pairs inmates up with urgent dogs from the Fulton County Animal Shelter. Dogs must pass a temperament test and then go through a 10 week training course similar to the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, established in 1989, is an American Kennel Club program to promote responsible dog ownership and to encourage the training of well-mannered dogs. The evaluation consists of ten objectives. All items must be completed satisfactorily or the team fails. Test items include: Accepting a friendly stranger. Sitting politely for petting. Allowing basic grooming procedures. Walking on a loose lead. Walking through a crowd. Sitting and lying down on command and staying in place. Coming when called. Reacting appropriately to another dog. Reacting appropriately to distractions. Calmly enduring supervised separation from the owner.
