My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wasabi is a 1 year old, Domestic Shorthair cat in need of a stable home environment and loving family.
His current owners love him very much but are unable to continue providing him the right home environment due to unpredictable schedules and personal challenges.

Wasabi is neutered and litter box trained and good with other cats. He has not been socialized with dogs or children. An ideal home environment would be calm with owner(s) who have a routine schedule.

Wasabi's current owners have taken the time to complete a questionnaire that Adopt-a-pet.com provided. The following section gives you detailed information about Wasabi in the words of and directly from two people who love him very much and desperately want to find him a loving home.

"Wasabi is a companion and cuddler cat (he likes to cuddle every night even if its hot!). He is talkative - he meows at me when I talk to him - he is truly a companion cat."

Cat’s name: Wasabi, Sabi, Papa

Age: About 1 year

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

M/F: Male

Spayed or neutered: Neutered

Weight: 8 lbs

Good with other cats? Has he/she lived with other cats?
So far he has been fine with our female 2 year old Snowshoe mix, whom he has lived with since he was about 4-5 weeks old.

Good with dogs? Has he/she lived with dogs?
Never been around a dog.

Good with kids? Has he/she lived with kids?

Never been around kids.

Is your cat litterbox trained?
Yes

Is your cat declawed?
No way.

History: Where/how did you acquire your cat and how long have you had him/her?
On November 15, 2014 our friends found Wasabi in a dumpster at their work. They heard him crying for two days, but thought it was the neighbor’s cat. They found him when they threw their trash away. They are allergic to cats, and called us and begged us to take him. We were not planning on keeping him, but you know how that goes. So we have had him almost a year.

What adjectives describe your cat?
(Thought starters: cute, sweet, playful, couch potato, hilarious, shy, loving, cautious, affectionate, purry) All of them. Lol. I think his three main ones are cautious, affectionate, and playful.

Best qualities: My favorite things about him are that he wants to cuddle every night while we watch TV, and that he’s so talkative and chirps.

Favorite activities:
Drinking from and playing with the water in the bathroom sink, playing with cat teaser wands, and bird watching.

Cute/funny quirks?
When playing with the laser, he likes to look where he expects it to show up, and not always follow where it’s going. He also chuffs and chirps at birds. If one of us is in the bathroom, he must also be in the bathroom. No exceptions. Sometimes he drags his bedding and stuffed animal into or closer to the bathroom. He also likes to play with magnetic fridge rocks.

Any special toys or treats he/she loves?
Cat wand teasers are his favorite toy. He prefers dry food like a weirdo, sometimes will eat tuna flavored wet food, have never seen him eat a treat, and so far he has refused home cooked chicken and canned tuna.

Loud/quiet: does your cat meow or vocalize a lot?
Yes. Especially around 8pm because that’s when he likes to drink from the faucet in the bathroom and then play with a cat teaser wand.

What do you think the ideal home for this cat would be?
A calm environment that rarely changes, where he can have a set routine/schedule.

Any special medical or behavioral needs?
Wasabi is scared of dump trucks, trash bags, and the vacuum. He’s not too thrilled when we have people over and tends to hide. We’ve tried giving him Xanax for his anxiety, but that seems to have made him trust us less, so we will be trying Prozac treats on him ASAP. We think our neighbor’s outdoor cats may be inciting Wasabi to spray.
