Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miss Maxie is a 5yo, 92lb, female tan and black Mastiff. Miss Maxie may be timid and slow to approach you at first, but once comfortable, she will lean into you the way Mastiffs do, wagging her stumpy tail and backside to nudge your elbow for some petting and love. She’s not interested in toys, but loves her kong and is the “queen of all zoomies” so if you have a yard, she will teach you the art of zooming around. Maxie is currently sharing her foster home with two other Mastiffs who she likes, especially the male one. She is crate trained, knows “sit”, “crate” and is now learning “down.” Maxie will initially cower when leashed (could be a history of mistreatment in her past?) but will get the hang of it once she understands you mean her no harm. She is also sharing her foster home with a cat. Although she hasn’t fully interacted with him, she loves watching him, wiggling her stumpy tail and intermittently getting into a doggy play position.
We believe Miss Maxie would benefit from being in a home with active people and possibly another social large male breed. We prefer a home without any small children, as she will likely knock them over. Maxie can also be in a home with a dog savvy cat, with slow introductions. A fenced in yard would be ideal or a nearby dog park so she could run, as she so loves to tear around the yard doing zoomies. She needs work with the leash, but is getting better. If you have experience with large breeds, contact us today to meet this gem.
