My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
My name is Raider in honor of Raider the pit bull from Front Street Animal Shelter that was sadly killed.
How old are you?
My fosters think I am about 1 or 2 years old but I believe I'm still a baby. I mean come on -- look at my adorable baby face!
How much do you weigh?
I weigh about 50 lbs. but due to not eating for so long my body is taking a while to gain all my weight back
What do you look like?
I’m a little black boy with white tipped toes and a white chest patch. I also have a white scraggly beard which contradicts my total baby face.
What do you like to eat?
I’d love to eat everything if I could, but my favorite thing to eat is the kirkland lamb and chicken cookie treats
What kind of personality do you have?
I am a very mellow guy. I go with the flow. I like to play and cuddle. I'm just a happy guy. I just love love and love my stuffed piggy. Mostly, I just want to be around people at all times!!
Describe your perfect day:
Let's see... A perfect day would consist of a morning walk then after playing some fetch. After that taking a long afternoon nap then once I wake up play some more and earn some extra treats. And then at the end of the day cuddle up in bed with my person.
What is your favorite toy?
I love all my toys but if I had to choose it would have to be my piggy plush toy and my nylabone
Do you know any tricks?
I only know a few but I am still learning. I do know how to sit, watch me, and stay. I am learning how to do down and shake. But I’d rather just sit.
What scares you?
Hmm. I'm scared of being in the dark by myself. But as long as I have someone with me or if I have soothing music on, I'm ok. I am also scared of being abandoned again. So that is why in my foster home I always try to stick next to someone at all times.
Have you been around children? Do you like them?
I love kids. They are just like me… just not as cute.
Do you like cats?
I am still working on that. I can't tell whether they are friends or foes yet..
How do you feel about other dogs?
I have to do slow intros with new dogs because I don't know if they are nice or not. But once I know that they are friends, I love them.
If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
If I could be anywhere.. I'd like to be on a couch with a soft blanket cuddling with the ones I love in my forever home.
How is your health?
Because I went a long time without steady meals, my body is still trying to get to my ideal weight, but other than that, foster mom says I’m healthy as a horse… whatever that is
Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with a bunch of foster sisters and brothers. But I have to say my closest companion is my foster sister, Nena. She doesn't know it yet but I know deep down she loves me.
Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
For now I hang out in my crate when home alone for my own safety.
Where do you sleep?
I sleep in a crate with a huge bed and lots of blankets. I love my crate and do very well in it. I also sleep with my stuffed piggy but shh… the other guys can't know about that.
Do you like walking on a leash?
Yes! I am very good on a leash although when I get scared, I tend to stiffen up and won't want to walk anymore which means the rest of the walk I am being carried, but my foster sister Selinna says I'm getting lots better.
Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard?
Hmm.. Well I do bark at people I don't know but once I get to know you, I am ok. I do on rare occasions when I get bored sometimes knock over the food bowl and act like it wasn't me, but hey it could have been anyone. You didn't see it.
Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside)
Yes I am! I am also crate trained.
Do you like playing in water?
I love playing in water!! Especially the water from the hose!! I love to chase it and try to grab the water. It's a lot harder than it looks..
What do you love about your foster family?
Everything. They have shown me so much love and I just cannot wait to share all that love with a family of my own.
What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
Before NBBR, I was dumped off near an elementary school where a lot of the kids would taunt me and try to hurt me. I thought I could trust them but they were really mean. I think that's why I can be very scared of new people. A girl saw the way I was being hurt and called Hope For Paws. They contacted NBBR to see if they’d help save me. They did! The girl who was nice to me helped catch me for NBBR. I never thought I could trust people again until I met my foster family. Now I just love everyone! Just give me some time to get to know you and then I will love you forever!!!
NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a "first come, first serve" basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are set based on the dog. Raider’s adoption fee is $200. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you can visit our website at norcalbullybreedrescue.com and fill out an adoption application. Simply click the "adopt" tab to find the form. Once the form loads, fill in the blanks, and hit submit. Please allow at least 24 to 48 hours for a reply. Thanks in advance.
