My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you want to play ball?!?!? I have plenty to share. Just wait there I’ll find my favorite & place it at your feet. I’ll sit as patiently as I can until you throw it but I get so excited to play it’s hard for me to stay still. I’m focused on the game. I could play for hours if you want to! Fear not I’m also good at entertaining myself too. I’m a Jack Russell Terrier as you can see. The names Dougie & it’s nice to meet you.

I’m told I’m 8 years old but I don’t believe it. I feel like I’m a young pup! Just look how much pep I have. I’ve got energy, I’ve got sass! Also I’m pretty sure I’m related to Tigger (but smaller of course) because I love to bounce! BOL Where are you going? What are you doing? Can I come too?! I enjoy strolling around the neighborhood, I might like to check out a local trail with you to see where it goes or maybe play ball in the yard. Did I mention how much I LOVE playing ball?!?! Squeak toys peak my interest so much that I must find out where the “squeak” is coming from & I won’t stop until I do.

I recently found myself as an orphan. I was wandering the streets alone. OMD how scary to be a little guy in the big city all by yourself! Thankfully I ended up at the shelter where I’m well taken care of & safe. Sadly my family never came looking for me. The shelter staff can’t believe I was never claimed but they promised me to help me find a new family. Specifically a furever family. So here I am searching for a new life, someone to take care of me, someone to love. I’m here looking for you…

In case you are wondering I get along well with my all furry friends (kitties & pups). I would be a fantastic playmate for slightly older kids. My slight is a little hazy so I don’t always see so clearly. When we meet I promise to let you know YOU are the one I want to be with. The person that I will devote all my love to. The one who I want to spend furever with. Consider taking a chance with me. I am loyal, genuine & a total love bug. Stop by to say hello I can’t wait for our future to begin.

Paw shakes,
Dougie

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. We are offering dog training classes through FMAS Wagtime Dog Training. You can check out more information at www.fmaswagtime.com. We can help you train practical skills you use every day with positive reinforcement training. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.
