My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can meet me at the Natomas Petsmart between 11 and 4 on Saturdays and Sundays!

Hi, my name is AJ, and I am a short haired orange tabby with amber to orange colored eyes, and kind of BIG; that just means there is more of me to love. I was returned to CATS because my family started traveling more for work and couldn’t give me and my brother Bob the amount of love and attention that we deserve.

When I got to my Foster Mommies house, I was a little scared, and didn’t want to come out of the carrier, but my Foster Mommy was really patient with me, and let me come out when I was ready; actually, I just needed to use the litter box, which I’m very good about using. Whether it has high sides, is covered or some really weird contraption called a Clevercat top entry litter box my previous parents had. I’ve also been really good about only scratching on the kitty condo or giant kitty tree that my Foster Mommy has.

I should let you know that some noises really scare me, especially loud ones, and I may run for cover, but I’ll eventually come back out when things quiet down. I also don’t like when there’s a lot of noise or activity nearby when I’m eating, so I will stay away until things quiet down. Sometimes this meant that my brother would eat my food if someone didn’t keep him away from it.

I am a big love bug that enjoys sitting on people’s laps, where I can nudge them, knead on them, purr and sometimes even drool on them. When I’m happy and someone is giving me pets, my tail will curl under and form a circular shape. Sometimes I also nudge the remote controls, depending on where they are, and might accidentally change the channel, mute the TV or even turn it off. I just love getting pets all over, and if you’re not careful, I may accidentally head butt you when you’re not paying attention. Can you tell I’m a lap kitty and like lots of love and attention?

When it comes to playtime with my Foster Mommy, I like any kind of wand toy, whether it has feathers or tassels, or even a bell on it. A lot of times I like to watch it before I make a jump for it, although I usually only get a couple of inches off the ground, but occasionally, I can get about a foot high. I might be able to get a little higher if I didn’t weigh so much, but that may take a little time. If I happen to catch it, I act very proud as I try to walk off with my catch, and sometimes I’ll even turn around to it give a little extra tug, but if that doesn’t work, I’ll go where I can lay down with it. Sometimes I even like to chase after that little red dot that shows up from time to time and moves about the room.

If I’m playing by myself, one of my favorite things is something that rolls easily across the floor. Any kind of ball or even a plastic Easter egg will do, but I think I like it even more if it has a jingle bell or makes some other noise. I even like those contraptions that have a ball that moves around in some kind of track. I also like those free cat toys that come off the milk containers. I love how they move around when I touch them, and how easy they are to pick up and go somewhere else with. I should also mention that I really like cat treats and am able to easily maneuver the treat ball around to get them out.

When it’s bedtime, if my Foster Mommy calls me in, I will get up on the bed and get lots of pets, but then I eventually get down and find a comfortable place to sleep; usually in one of the top perches of the kitty tree. I think this is because my previous parents decided they no longer wanted me (and my brother) sleeping on the bed with them, and would squirt me with water to make me go away. I don’t like it when I get sprayed with water unexpectedly; it really scares me.

One other thing to know about me, is that sometimes my lower lip will stick out, and make me look like I’m pouting, and other times it looks totally normal; I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, although my Foster Mommy thinks it’s kind of cute.

Are you looking for a cat that enjoys all kinds of pets and snuggles and loves sitting on laps? Maybe you’re looking for two cats? If so, you should consider adopting me and my brother Bob. He’s not my real brother, and not much of a lap cat, but we’ve been together for a few years now, and get along really well. You can even get a discount if you take us both. We also have some supplies that can come with us, but if we are split up, then I would only be able to take a few things with me, since Bob likes a lot of the things better than I do.

If you have any questions whatsoever, you can call my previous owner Scott at 916-200-9558. He loves to talk about me and my brother.
