My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bianca is an 8-year-old red lady who came from the same backyard breeder as recently adopted Zorba. However, instead of calling us directly to surrender her to IDR+, they brought her to animal control where she got kennel cough. After taking a couple of weeks to recover in a foster home, she went to our vet to get checked out, and those lumps and bumps on her tummy are actually mammary tumors from repeated breeding and not being spayed. Bianca will undergo major surgery of a full mastectomy and spay this week, and she will need a few more weeks to recover before she is ready to be officially adopted. Please consider sponsoring Bianca’s large medical bills. When she first arrived, she had horrible muscle tone in her hind legs, but frequent walks are making more sturdy. Our vet suspects that she could develop Wobblers eventually, but that’s a chance that most Dobe owners are familiar with. In her foster home, Bianca has been very sweet and seeks out attention and affection. She tolerates a crate but would prefer to be loose after she’s trustable. She rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. She is excellent with cats and is taking things slow with the resident dogs in the foster home where she will recover from surgery. She will probably be fine in a home with children 7 and up due to her super nice personality. Email dobes@ILDobeRescue.com
