My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nick is a 7 month old Catahoula boy! Somebody got fed up with his Catahoula-ness and sent him down the road by himself, maybe after they smacked him good upside the head a couple times. A puppy like him is not for the faint of heart! He is strong-willed and protective, yet he won't hurt small animals or kids. His feet are webbed and his bark, which only comes in singles, is big and convincing. He wants to sit at your side as much as possible, and he learns very quickly if his person will just talk to him. He is about 75% house broken and will need some more patience; this indicates that as a small puppy he was not allowed in the house at all. I got him in foster when he was 6 months, he was just didn't know a single thing, like he was tossed outside and then never actually commuicated with. But it sure didn't take him long to want to sleep by a person's bedside (or even on the bed if he can get away with it!) and to understand what toys are for! He is so happy; he really took to the good life like a fish to water. His adopter is going to have to know a little about Catahoulas, and understand that they are slightly "difficult" dogs if they don't get to be with their person all the time. This guy does NOT crate, but he is very reliable staying by himself in the garage/side yard, and then wants to come right in. But this breed's amazing intuition, intelligence, and devotion, if you DO interact with them closely, is an experience not to be missed.
