My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We bring a lot of cute, fluffy dogs into our rescue. When you pull a dog from a shelter it’s not always easy to evaluate their long-term personality traits. On occasion these cute, fluffy, shy dogs turn out to be feisty and domineering, noisy and even snappy. You almost feel like you were duped by a seemingly innocent little fluff-ball. Well that’s not the case with Patty; her personality is just as adorable as she is.

Patty is a 2-year-old Maltese/Bichon Frise mix who was picked up as a stray. Once Patty was groomed, spayed, and treated for an umbilical hernia, she became comfortable in our home and her sweet personality unveiled itself. Patty is cute as a button, has that luxurious, fluffy coat that is adored by so many Bichon lovers. She has long, flowing ears and a personality that compliments her good looks. Patty wants two things in life: all of your attention, and all of your table scraps. We give lots of attention and we are trying to break her of begging at the table. She isn’t pushy or devious, she just gives you sweet puppy eyes and whimpers in hopes that she's too irresistible and that will earn her some people-food. Patty will also whine or whimper when she wants in your lap or when she needs to go outside. Patty is perfectly house-trained and never has an accident, so she should transition easily into most homes.

While 'sweet' and 'cuddly' would be the best adjectives for Patty, she is just feisty enough that she makes a good watch-dog too. She barks at any suspicious noise outside and is more than willing to rile up the whole pack. She does have a pretty loud bark so might not be ideal for an apartment or condo setting. She gets along perfectly with her foster siblings and is very polite and gentle with them. If a dog already has a prime position in your lap, Patty will carefully maneuver around them to find a suitable spot to snuggle up and snooze. She does seem willing to play with the other dogs, but she is still recovering from surgery so playtime has been limited to very brief sessions.

In these cold winter months, cuddling up with a warm, loving, gentle lap dog with a coat softer than fleece sounds like a perfect way to pass the time until spring arrives. If you agree, contact us to find out more about this sweet girl! Please note that we will only consider homes within a 2-hour driving radius of the Chicagoland area. Email plusdogs@ILDobeRescue.com
