Meet our newest arrival Bentley! This cute medium-sized, blonde-colored soft wirey-coated, 2-year-old and 35-pound boy looks like he belongs in the movies or a TV commercial! He surely has that cute movie dog look to him. He also knows how to sit and lie down...for a treat, of course! Back in May, Bentley was running stray, picked up by animal control and brought to a local shelter. His owner did not come forward to reclaim him, so he was then prepared for adoption. He was adopted out in June, but returned a month later due to being too puppyish/playful mouthy with the young children within the household. He was adopted out again and after almost eight months of being in this home, he was yet again returned. The reason was due to an incident with another dog over food and a toy. Unfortunately, an average adopter can create a situation by having two or more dogs loose in an area with food and toys around. Most dogs will become possessive to what is theirs, which then can quickly escalate into a fight. Bentley deserves a wonderful home and one that will use good judgement/common sense. He lacks confidence in new situations (like going to the vet), and he looks for someone he can trust. A training class would help him be more self-assured and feel safe when he is occasionally insecure. The shelter he came from, which is a high-volume intake, asked if IDR+ can take him in find him the best home. We believe in the right home, with the right canine companion, he'd be able to live safely with another dog. Or being an only dog has its benefits, too! We just want to make sure the next home that we place him in will be his forever one.
