My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peyton is a 3-year-old, 13.5 pound Yorkie boy being fostered near Murfreesboro TN. His adoption fee is $450 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Peyton by going to our website www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the application located on our home page.

Peyton is a 3-year-old, 13.5 pound Yorkie boy being fostered near Murfreesboro, TN.

Meet Peyton! Peyton is a happy 3.5-year-old Yorkie boy who is active, playful, and healthy. He is on the large side for a Yorkie at 13.5 pounds. His foster Mom says he is built like a football player which is why she named him Peyton! He is also very handsome as you can see.

Peyton just arrived in his foster home so he is pretty curious about the other dogs and kitties there. So far, so good. Peyton appears to be sweet, curious, and very playful; much more so than the senior fur-siblings in his foster home. He is a little disappointed that none of them want to play with him. Having a playmate is on his forever home "wish list."

Peyton is not housetrained AT ALL. Obviously, we are going to work on that in his foster home. He will be neutered this week and this should help get him off to a good start. In the meantime, he will wear a belly band in his foster home and be taken out very frequently for potty breaks. Whoever wants to adopt Peyton needs to have the time and the patience to work with him and help him continue to progress in that regard. Peyton also acts confused on a leash and tries to chew the leash. This is typical behavior for a pup who has never been leash trained. We will also be working on that in his foster home. He is also very vocal. Peyton will bark (and rather loudly at that!) if he wants your attention and does not like to accept “No” for an answer.

We think Peyton would be fine in a home with older children (age 12 and older). We prefer a home with a fenced yard so that Peyton can have a safe place to exercise and burn off some of his youthful energy. A good alternative would be an active person who would take Peyton for longs walks and play with him. We think another doggie playmate would also be good for him.

Peyton has just arrived in his foster home and we are now getting to know him. He will have his neutering, dental cleaning, and microchip insertion before he is ready to be adopted. All of this has been scheduled for this week and we think if all goes well Peyton will be ready for adoption around the first of March.

If you think you are the perfect home for Peyton, please complete an application to adopt him.
