Initial Bio 2/16/2016



Cody is a 11 month old, 10 pound Yorkie boy being fostered in Richmond, Virginia.



Cody came to us from an owner who could no longer afford his care because Cody has just been diagnosed with a liver shunt. This is a very serious and life-threatening condition that requires extensive treatment, most usually in the form of very expensive surgery. United Yorkie Rescue of course accepted Cody into rescue and has already begun the process of getting him the care he needs. His diagnostic evaluation is complete and he will consult with a specialist early next week. He will almost certainly be scheduled for surgery soon afterwards. For now, Cody is on medication, special prescription food and receiving lots of TLC in his foster home. He is a very sweet boy who has a long road ahead of him. Cody will not be ready for adoption for some time. If approved for surgery, the estimated cost will be around $3000. If you are able to help us by donating towards Cody’s care we would be so very grateful.
