My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated bio: 3-3-16 Charley is a 1 year old, 9 lb. Chorkie (Yorkie/Chihuahua) female puppy. She is being fostered in Richmond, Virginia. Charley's adoption fee is $550 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Charley by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

Charley is a professional snuggler and a great “Velcro dog." She really loves her person especially her foster mom. Her recent veterinary check found her slightly underweight and with luxating patellas on her hind legs. The vet said her knees do not need surgery. This is a common condition in many Yorkshire Terriers. She doesn’t yet know commands such as “sit” but we hope she learns some commands soon. Charley is still a very young dog. She likes to jump up and down for attention but will come inside when called. The only time she barks or growls is when she is playing with the other dogs or when someone rings the doorbell. Any loud sounds or sudden movements make her jump and shake. She shakes while riding in the car. She is not a big fan of the cats outside in the neighborhood. She barks and growls and tries to chase after them.

Like other puppies Charley likes to play by shredding paper items like tissues and cardboard if she can get to them. She does stay in the puppy pen when her foster parents are out on errands. She doesn't love to be confined, but she is learning that the pen is a good, safe place to be and she is okay to be in there.

Now it is Charley's turn to say a few words.

Hi, it me, Charley-girl here. Boy, am I having fun, and I am getting settled into my foster home! My trip to the dogtor said that I was a little too skinny. I love meal time and snack time, but I only like the best treats. I like going outside in the yard and on walks with my leash and harness. I am not super girlie because I won’t keep my collar on or leave bows in my hair. I even have a pink came blanket in that is perfect for me. Some very special ladies made it for me. I never had toys before. Now I am learning from my foster sister how to play with them and I have a few favorites.

I'm a pretty young pup so I have a lot of energy. I love to play and wrestle with the other dogs in between snuggling and naps. I like running around the yard, but I prefer to be wherever my person is. Foster mom says I tell her when I need to go out, so I have graduated to sleeping outside the crate and puppy pen overnight. My foster mom thinks I should have a play buddy to wrestle and run around with.

If you think I am the perfect puppy for you, please fill out an adoption application. I would really like a fenced yard, another young fur friend to run around with, and maybe even some kids over the age of 10 to play with.

Initial Bio 2/16/16 Charley is a one year old, 10 pound Chorkie (Yorkie-Chihuahua mix) girl being fostered in Richmond Virginia.

Charley came to use from a single mom who was unable to no longer able to care for her and her and Charley’s fur-brother Cody. Both dogs were surrendered to United Yorkie rescue. Charley just arrived in her foster home so we are just getting to know her. So far she is very sweet and loving. Charlie is housebroken and up to date on her medical care so we anticipate she will be ready for adoption very soon. Stay tuned as we get to know Charley better.
