Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Veni is one of three amigos who came from a home in Iowa that had more dogs than allowed. All three dogs are estimated between 7.5 to 8.5 years old. Veni lost his adoptive home recently because of the housing crisis. His owner really had a difficult time giving him up, but knew it was for the best for him. Veni is a pure-bred Italian Greyhound. Veni has great leash skills and loves to take walks, and his housetraining has been excellent! He had a few accidents when adjusting to his home, but no others since the first adjustment. He is a very sweet little guy and wants your attention and love. He literally throws himself in your lap to cuddle.
In 2006 we obtained them from another rescue group who knows that IGs are not the dog for most homes and they wanted to ensure they went to the proper home. Once they came to rescue they were neutered. Veni will soon get a dental exam done and probably have a few teeth pulled. His foster home has had fun with his name trying to come up with interesting varations that include: Venezuela, Venti Mochaccino, Veni and the Jets. He is getting along great with the other IGs in the foster home, and has shown no dominance around the other residents. He is learning his name, and does respond when called. He will voluntarily go in and out, and is learning that the grass is a good thing. I'm pretty sure he's never seen stairs before, but has taken to stairs quite readily. He has met the cats & kittens, and is very gentle with them. The kittens are still quite small, but they scare him - which is downright adorable. Receiving kindness from a human hand has proven addictive to him. He is working on his kennel training currently. He has yet to try to potty in the house, though although he always wearing a belly band just incase. All three of these IGs are very underweight as you can tell by the pictures, but are eating well so they will gain it back in a short time. The 3 pups are very sweet and love attention from people. Each of the three have basic housetraining skills and are improving them in the foster homes. Veni is being fostered in Lincoln, NE currently. Local adoptions are preferred which would include Iowa and most surrouding states.May 6, 2024, 12:08 am
