On 3/29/2016, an older lady showed up at Jackson County Animal Shelter with a young beagle in hand. She shouted, "I need help! Someone, help me!" Employees thought she must have picked up this little dog along the road. But no! This was her dog and the owner had seen her nearly hit by a car as she left the yard and crossed the highway! The humane officer explained that the shelter had a waiting list of stray dogs and no room for an owned dog. She said, "If I take this dog home, she is going to be killed in the road." ARF took her in and put her in boarding. Unlike most of the dogs ARF helps, Rocket, renamed a more feminine Rockette, has received regular vetting. Rockette was born around August 13, 2015. She received DHLP shots on Oct. 13, 2015; Nov. 6, 2015; Dec. 11, 2015; and Jan. 8, 2016. She was spayed on Jan. 8, 2016, and had a small hernia repair on Jan. 11, 2016. Her rabies was given on Dec. 11, 2015. At that time the owner purchased Sentinel Spectrum, which was still in the packet with the paperwork. Rockette seems friendly and inquisitive, and her owner said that she sits and fetches. She can climb out of the playroom at the boarding facility, so she may be a bit too smart! This is a young dog who would love a family of her own and someone to play fetch with her!
