Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Skippy is a 2 year old pure bred Maltese. He came to us from animal control because his owners surrendered him for an unknown injury. Our work-up showed that Skippy suffered from a severe pelvic fracture. He has been with us for a long time now and we are happy to report that he has made a full recovery!
He is neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm meds (test was negative), and flea prevention. He does not need any further treatment for his injury - he just needs to find his forever home!
Skippy gets along with everyone! Dogs and cats included, though he does like to chase cats and try to play with them like they are dogs. If you have a cat that likes peace and quiet - then he is not the right pup for you.
He has a lot of energy and preference will be given to a family with a large fenced in yard. He LOVES to run - and it is absolutely adorable when he runs laps around the yard:)
Though he is an energetic pup, he also loves to cuddle and will sleep on your lap. Skippy does become bonded to people and takes a little while to warm up to strangers, but it doesn't take too long for him to make friends with everyone.
He is in need of continued potty training - he will sneak off and potty in the house if you are not watching, but he does go outside and will just need someone who pays close attention.
He is crate trained, but I am sure he would much prefer to sleep in someone's bed:)
His adoption fee is set at $300 to offset the medical expenses incurred for his pelvic fracture. This fee is firm - we have spent over $1000 in resources for his care and need to recoup some of the finances.
If you are interested, please email us and request an adoption application - this is a very short form and should only take you a few minutes to complete. Due to the high interest in Skippy, we will not be able to provide more information until the application is submitted. (There are only two volunteers for our small rescue so please be patient as our time is very stretched.)
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
