My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She is beautiful, intelligent, loving and playful, Rainey is a stunning 1-1/2 year old, 35 pound, female American Boston Bull Terrier (Boston Terrier/American Pit Bull mix), that stands just 13” to her shoulders.

The local Animal Control Department Shelter classified her as unsociable, unadoptable and was placed on the 24 hour euthanasia list, Rainey was brought to us by a city Shelter employee and asked us to see if we could help her overcome her disabilities.

When we met Rainey, she would coward in a corner frozen with fear and shake uncontrollably. Obviously she has been abused in the past and she is very shy even with the persons with whom she knows well, but fearful and unsure with others, she will walk away when strangers approach her, Rainey is also sensitive to touch, she will accept touch from a couple of persons she now knows very well, but with reservations. She will react strongly to children 8-9 years of age, she will display aggression while backing away from them, that makes us believe she may have been abused by children. She is never bitten anyone, with adults she does not know, she will walk away quietly and if cornered she will just coward. She has so many great qualities that her care takers here at the kennel adore her. She gets along well with other friendly well behaved dogs big and small, walks well on leash. She is a lady in a familiar house setting, I have brought her to my house a couple of times and she just follows me around, she will take treat from me and at times allows me to pet her. Rainey is house and crate trained and has boundless energy.

Clearly, this special girl needs to find just the right fosters or adopters that want to take the time to come to the kennel where she lives, get properly introduced, develop a relationship before fostering or adopting her and help Rainey learn how safe the world really is. Moving on from a terrible ordeal can be one of the hardest things in the world, and sometimes all we need to get through it is someone who truly understands. Come met her, you will fall in love. With a lot of patience, understanding and loving care, Rainey will claim the mature confidence of a well-rounded doggie.

If you are an experienced foster or adopter and would like to foster her or maybe give her a Forever Home call or text Miguel at 817-798-8416, Becky at 817-521-0072 or inquire at Family Pet Care at 817-451-7387
