My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pita is a 9 year old teeny tiny teacup Chihuahua who is all white. She is one of our medical cases that we pulled from Maricopa County Animal Control last year. She is a rare hydrocephalus survivor which means that she was born with a condition that makes the fluid in her brain not drain right. Because of this disease these patients typically have shortened life spans and usually don’t make it till the age of 1. This little trooper is about 7-9 years old and still has a wonderful quality of life. Due to her condition her head is enlarged and she has trouble staying upright and will fall down a lot. She is a special needs adoption and even though it won’t cost anything, she will still need constant watching and help. She also has the typical Chihuahua breed issue of luxating patella’s which was recommended not to fix. She was very thin when we pulled her from county last year and her neurological exam from our specialist Vet confirmed the hydrocephalus.  She loves to eat and picks her food out of the dish one by one all day long until she has it all over the floor. (That’s the neuro side) But being so tiny she is prone to low sugar levels so we try to keep food available all day for her and mix it with can food once or twice a day for extra protein. Her teeth were not that great when we got her and once we had her stabilized at a good weight she was spayed and had a dental. She did really well under anesthesia and woke up without issue which was a high concern going in. She is a wonderful little shadow and she loves to follow you around and crawl into your lap for love. She doesn’t like to be carried up high, but for all we know that’s how she hurt her head and the fluid is from an injury. She is really very easy to care for and would like to have someone around all the time. She loves other calm dogs and is great with cats. She would not do well with small children because she is very fragile. If Pita seems like a perfect match for you please call Jen to find out more. #623-210-6578
