My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys! My name is Emmanuel. I go by 'Manny'. Everyone thinks I am an Boxer/Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix. I have been with the rescue now for over a year and a half... am I ugly? My foster mommy tells me I'm beautiful, but I have never had a home of my own... and barely any inquiries. I am about 2 years old and I weigh about 45 lbs. Before coming to Rowan County Animal Control, I wasn't so sure about people, because I really wasn't handled much at all, and when I got loose, no one came looking for me. I was not loved. I was not cared about. I was very young, just a puppy, but I almost lost my life because I didn't show well at the shelter because I was so scared. Luckily, The Halfway House Animal Rescue pulled me on my last day and they started showing me that people are kind and they love to give treats! I take treats very gently from your hands because I am so grateful!. It is still new to me, but I think I am starting to like this 'snuggle' business. My leash manners are a work in progress, because I have never been on a leash before, but they are much improved! However, my foster mommy says I do great on a gentle leader. I would love to go to a home with a running partner. My foster mom takes me on runs, and I absolutely love that! I would be a great agility dog as well, I am smart and high energy.

Please consider loving me, and adding me to your family. I am fully vetted, heartworm negative, and The Halfway House is now taking applications for me! I am so excited! I have made so much progress around other dogs and love to jump around and play. I am good with children and adults. I will need an owner that understands the herding breed mentality, as I am high energy and I need a strong, smart owner. In the right home, I will be the absolute best dog! Please consider putting in an application on me today!
