My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shashi is a Pit Bull Terrier-mix, female, 5 years of age.

Extremely loving, gentle, rather relaxed and casual, Shashi is a polite, quietly unassuming, mostly serious-minded dog who will form deep bonds with her family members. Self-possessed but also highly sensitive, happy-to-be-around with a calm disposition and very serene presence, sturdy and steadfast, she is a canine who needs and craves companionship and who loves to be close to her people.

Interested and inquisitive without being excitable or demanding, Shashi is a very well-mannered dog who is quick and eager to please when she knows what is expected of her. Intelligent with an exceptionally high learn ability, she’s also a high-functioning canine who likes to learn, and she excels in obedience. Robust and hearty, moderately active, and not really all that playful, this tranquil beauty becomes lively and animated when outdoors, and she will need regular mental stimulation and physical activity to stay fit and happy.

Social and friendly by nature; entirely loyal, trusting, and affectionate with those she knows, Shashi is welcoming of strangers who quickly become new friends. A genuinely sincere and faithfully devoted canine, this pretty low-maintenance girl is looking for responsible, caring owners who are willing to provide daily structure, regular exercise, consistent leadership, lifelong companionship, and plenty of love and attention. Currently working on her leash skills and good manners training with Monroe SPCA, Shashi’s shown herself to be attentive, enthusiastically eager to please, and very well-mannered on a leash; she’ll no doubt enjoy and excel in obedience.

Shashi is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately-active lifestyle. While we think she’ll get along well with a compatible, similar-sized dog she has been properly introduced to, particularly one of the opposite-sex, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Shashi’s also comfortable around children of all ages, and she’d do well in just about any home where children and pets alike are taught to respect boundaries and interaction is monitored as it should be.

Shashi is a Monroe SPCA adoptable dog who currently resides at Monroe County Animal Control located at 911 S. Raisinville Rd, Monroe, MI (just south of the fairgrounds). Come meet her during kennel hours Tuesday - Friday, 11:00 am - 3:30 pm; Saturday, 11:00 am - 2:30 pm, closed Sunday, Monday, and National Holidays.

All Monroe SPCA dogs available for adoption at the shelter have an adoption fee of $120.00. This fee includes the dog being spayed or neutered, HW negative, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
