My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Friends! My name is Cassie and I'm a 7 year old female spayed BC. I was initially with PRBCR 2 years ago as a stray. Since I was a stray, was very anxious and my adoptive family worked with me a great deal. I can "come", "sit", and I love to "shake". Although I do fully expect you to give me a arm massage if you ask me to shake. It's only fair for asking me to do a trick for you!

I was returned to PRBCR due to changes in life and my home life wasn't working well for me. When I met my new foster Mom I was very nervous and had no recall command. I didn't know if she was going to be nice or mean to me, as I was a stray at one point, so it takes a couple of days before I will warm up to you. Now I'm doing great with her. I like my "safe" place in the house (my kennel) and I'm on fish oil (omega s) and glucosamine/chondroitin to keep my joints and coat health and strong. I have a very thick and healthy coat and as long as I stay on my fish oil, I really don't shed too much!

For being a border collie, I am fairly low key. I am not obsessed with toys or playing with a ball and don't have a drive to work sheep or cows. I do appreciate a walk in the morning and night. In fact, I LOVE going for walks.

The border collie, and former stray, in me does get nervous with changes in my life. I have thunderstorm anxieties, so I like to have either medications on hand or my person near to help calm me and let me know that the big thunder isn't going to get me.

My foster Mom is a crazy person with cats, dogs, cows, sheep and birds. I manage to coexist with all of them. I ignore the other dogs and when they pick on me, I am submissive. I ignore the cats. If someone tries to take my food, I let them. I'm a little bit of a pushover. I mostly like to spend time with my person or relaxing in my safe place. Oh and walks, did I mention I love to put on my harness and go for a walk?

What I am looking for: A forever family that will love me and remember that I like to pick where my safe place is and I love to be able to sleep in my safe place. Even though my exercise needs are not great, I love to spend as much time as possible with my person. I go to work with my foster Mom every day and even though I'm shy, there is not a mean bone in my body and I warm up to every person I meet.

Thank you for looking at rescuing one of us. Please help share my information to help me find my hero. I know my hero is out there! Please visit our website at www.prbcr.org
