My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cora was found pawing at the cafeteria door begging for food at the Clay County Hospital one evening in early February. At first glance, her fur hid the true condition of her state. It's only when we picked her up to hold her, were we aware of how emaciated she really was with a protruding spine and rib cage. We could even feel the bones in her head. She did not an ounce of healthy body fat on her. She was also getting dehydrated when we found her. Cora now has a clean hammock and cage to rest in, nutritious food (she devours her canned food), and loving volunteers who care for her. She is super friendly and is so appreciative of human contact. She rubs all over you as if to thank you continuously, and is quite the percher. She will jump on your shoulder – without any prompting. Cora is petite in size and about a year old. She is now feline leukemia tested (negative), is getting up to date to her vaccinations, and is spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $25. Cora is now available for adoption at Valbert Feed Store, 215 E North Ave, Flora. Store timings: Mon-Fri: 8:15 to 5:00. Sat: 8:15 to 1:00. To adopt or know more about her, please email us at furagoodpaws@yahoo.com or text/call Laurie at 618-676-5878 or Nicola at 217-218-5563.

Fur a Good Paws invests approx. $65 in each adoptable cat to cover the costs of vaccines, feline leukemia test, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip. More is spent on dewormer, flea treatment, food, and litter. Our adoption fees are low, so that rescued pets can find homes. We often lose money on our pets. Donations to our nonprofit are tax deductible and very much appreciated.

Fur a Good Paws is a small, all-volunteer, donation-based rescue based in Clay County, IL that operates through loving foster homes. We receive no tax dollars. We also provide spay-neuter assistance for community pets through vouchers and help by educating the public about responsible pet ownership. Donations and volunteers welcomed and appreciated.
