Merry Christmas everyone! I'm happy to report that Butternut is ready to be adopted. He is developing into such a feisty little Cairn. He loves to play and he can find a toy hidden way under the couch with no problem. He's still a little shy with new people, but with the busy holidays and having people in and out, he's learning to make friends quickly. This afternoon I found him napping on the couch with my mother, whom he met only a few days ago! The one he isn't too crazy about is her dog - they are jealous of each other - but they are learning to work it out, and he still loves to play with my Westie. Butternut is almost housebroken and the only accidents he's had are when we're distracted and forget to go outside. While he would rather be out where the people are, he is crate trained and we're working on walking on a leash. At the vet last week he was such a good boy and everyone there fell in love with him. He is the true essence of a Cairn - smart, feisty, playful, independent, but not too independent for some good cuddling. For all of you whose holiday season includes the promise of a new dog, Butternut might be the boy for you!
