Hi everyone! I'm Buddy and I'm a 5.5 year old Aussie/Border being fostered in Waco, TX. I have a beautiful, long blue Merle coat and a large swishy tail, with deep chestnut eyes. I am a full-standard size, weighing a healthy weight of 52 lbs. I have a very special story. For the first 5 years of my life, I was adored and loved on by my owner. But by no fault of my own, my owner had to make the choice between living on the streets with me again or giving me a better life. He chose to give me up, and here were his parting words: 'I'm crying as I write this. Buddy is my best friend. He's been there through all the hard times, and he saved my life. The least I can do is save his.' As you can probably guess, I have been spoiled my whole life and would love it if someone took me home to keep the trend going! I am a very low maintenance guy who just wants to lay on the couch and cuddle. I am an extremely loyal, velcro-dog and will follow you everywhere. I do have a bad habit of pawing too much for attention, but I am working hard to only paw every now and then. I also have a habit of dashing out the door when it is opened, but am working on sitting and waiting before I am allowed to go out. Even if I run out, I come immediately back once you call my name! I just like to explore. Because of this, I am required to have a fenced yard. I am trained to sit and shake, and am working on down and wait. I am completely housebroken and know the 'crate' command - it is my safe place! I absolutely cannot be around cats (no exceptions). I tolerate children, but I prefer a quiet household and that is where I would thrive best. I love other dogs and enjoy their company as long as they are not too wild. I am more interested in people than dogs (dogs can't pet me!). I would be just fine as an only dog where I can get all of the attention that I deserve. I need an owner that understands my needs and would be with me for most of the day, as well as be willing to work with me.
