My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHE IS AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL ADOPTION AND APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 12 MIDNIGHT ON 8/12.

All dogs are perfect, but some are more perfect than others. Opal is a sweet gentle happy girl, equal parts love and play. She could easily move into most any loving home.
Opal is housetrained with supervision and frequent airings. She walks beautifully on leash. She knows sit, waits at the gate, and she is treat-motivated and easy to train. She has very nice manners.
She has been introduced to crate training, but should not be left for long periods until tested.
Opal loves human companionship. She follows wherever you go. When you sit down, she’ll lay at your feet. She is a medium-energy dog with a nice off switch. If you want to go for a walk or play in the yard, she's ready. If you need to sit at the computer, she is content to lie under the table.
Opal enjoys going places in the car. She can be left for short periods without panic, but will move into your seat😊.
No dog can be certified to be completely safe around children because children are unpredictable. Opal was tested with WELL-BEHAVED children who had been taught proper dog manners. The kids were aged 6, 11 and 12. She enjoyed the company and attention of all, she walked well on leash for them, and she was gentle when they sat and offered her treats. She shied away from a toddler that walked past her in a park, so she may be uncomfortable around very small children.
Opal was cautious of and avoided the stationary cat. The dog-loving cat rubbed right under her chin. She held her sit, but looked very surprised. Opal could most likely live with any cat with proper introductions and supervision.
Opal was calm and comfortable in Pet Smart. She approached people in a friendly cautious way when they spoke to her, but mostly, she ignored them and focused on the numerous treats and food.
Opal gets along with other dogs. She enjoys gentle play. She will give appropriate corrections if the play is too forward or aggressive.

It will be a very lucky home indeed that chooses this gem.
