My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An adoption application on CARTER can be found at the following link: http://wp.me/P73YMd-1h
Please email the completed application to weatherley.woofriver@gmail.com
Please submit an application AND do NOT also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both the adoption coordinator and the marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.

When you look up friendly and/or happy in the dictionary, you should see a picture of CARTER! This 2 year old hunk even keeps his tail wagging and a smile on his face at the vet's office. CARTER is a trusting boy who will walk up to absolutely anyone. If you pet him, he immediately rolls over for a belly scratch! He lives in a foster home with an older Labrador retriever and a 5 year old little girl. He loves to play with the lab, but takes correction well and leaves her alone when she doesn't want to play. He loves to cuddle with the litter girl and have movie nights on the couch. His foster family has raved about him since day 1. CARTER has done well with every pup he's met. He got a glowing report card at doggy day care. Though we don't think he would try to hurt a kitty if he caught one, he will play chase with cats so we think a home without feline family members is the best fit. He knows not to potty in the house and is mannerly in his crate while his foster parents are at work. He is always up for a car ride and (you guessed it) is thrilled to go absolutely anywhere. CARTER will be a fantastic sidekick or a terrific family pet. Though he is as sweet as a lamb, please note he is a big guy who could accidentally knock over a small child. CARTER will bring a lifetime of smiles and endless affection to his forever family!

CARTER is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 adoption fee includes interstate health certificate and transport to New England.

Please email the completed application to weatherley.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
