My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Bandit, a neutered 4-year old, tricolor rough-coat BC mix being fostered in the Burlington, NC area. Bandit is not looking his best right now because of all the necessary trimming required to remove the mats of hair he had when picked-up off the street. That hair will grow back, get shiny, and he will be one handsome dude. It doesn't look it but Bandit is very underweight at 42 pounds; all skin, bones and hair. Bandit was recently neutered and relocated so he is still a little confused but his true personality is starting to emerge and he shows both BC smarts and stubbornness. Bandit is very hyper and likes to go-go-go, is annoyingly curious with our dog-friendly cat and plays with his pack mates but is rough so probably should be an only dog. He is also very rough on indoors fluffy toys removing ears, tails and squeakers so the toys don't remain fluffy for long. Bandit loves to play with a ball but doesn't yet understand the concept of retrieve, is very inquisitive so will make a good watch dog, and still somewhat skittish but is getting more comfortable in his new surroundings. He will spend the night in his crate but complains for a few minutes before quieting down and will not quiet down if there is activity going on elsewhere in the house, as he wants to join the action. He is house trained for potty but requires lots of work on his inside etiquette like not drinking from the toilet, not getting into the garbage and not counter cruising. We are addressing those issues on a daily basis and he is getting more socialized. Bandit rides well but needs encouragement to get into a vehicle, walks decently on leash when alone but has trouble when the rest of the pack comes along to distract him and is not child tested. This guy is not for the home that just wants a companion dog but rather will thrive in a home with humans that are dog savvy enough to work off some of his excess energy. Bandit is UTD on vaccines, tested negative for heartworms, on heartworm preventative, microchipped and ready to find his forever home. Feel free to e-mail or call, as we will gladly talk about the progress this happy, affectionate fellow has made.
