My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goldie is an approximately 2 to 3 years old, 15 lb. golden-colored Yorkie mix girl. She is being fostered in Richmond, Virginia.

Goldie's adoption fee is $395 and includes all vetting (neuter/spay, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Goldie by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

Goldie found herself homeless in Southwest Virginia until a family took her in. This nice family named her Muffin, but unfortunately they were unable to keep her. She was sadly surrendered to United Yorkie Rescue. Her foster family decided that she was more a Goldie than a Muffin and so they named this beautiful girl Goldie. Goldie has been fully vetted and microchipped. She is now ready for her forever home. She is a very healthy, young dog who is just waiting for the right family to give her her forever home.

Goldie is mostly potty trained. For her convenience, her foster parents leave down potty pads for her to use whenever they are gone. Goldie will do fine in a crate for long absences. She does very well overnight sleeping in her doggie bed.

Goldie has been evaluated by a trainer and is said to have no food aggression, toy aggression, or any poor behaviors when it comes to humans. She is easy to bathe and loves being petted. She does not have any interest in toys, but is very much food motivated for training.

Goldie is an energetic young dog who gets along fine with well-behaved, gentle children. She knows several tricks, but her foster parents are trying to figure out the rules. Ha-ha. She is super sweet and loves attention and interaction with the family. Goldie’s favorite things are being outside in the yard and going for rides in a car. She can run pretty fast after the birds in the yard, so a fenced yard would be ideal for Goldie.

Goldie’s foster parents have discovered she doesn’t like cats. She will bark, growl, and get upset if she sees unfamiliar dogs while on walks. After about a month of work and supervision, Goldie has become accustomed to the other female dog in the foster home. They now walk well together on leashes every day and can be left unsupervised for short periods of time. Her best home would be one with a fenced yard, school aged children, and no cats. She would prefer to be an only dog, but she should be okay with another dog her size or smaller

If you are looking for just the right dog to complete your family, Goldie is the one for you. Please fill out an application if you are interested in being Goldie's forever family!
