MEET BELLA -
BELLA is a super sweet, smooth 6.5 year old black and tan Dachshund who is in need of a super sweet, loving family. This adorable, tiny princess needs to gain some weight. She minds well and loves being in her big crate filled with blankets form dryer. She also adored being held like a baby. Although she wasn't treated well in her previous life, she has no behavioral issues and as you can see from her photos is one of the cutest girls here. This little girl loves to explore the garden and interested in everything...so much excitement in life. She really is SO SO cute!
She is fun, enjoys playing and cuddling. BELLA will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. She could do well with a smaller neutered, gentlemanly male Dachshund as a brotherly companion.
Like all Dachshunds, BELLA is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, BELLA needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
