Barnabas was rescued off the streets of Houston TX after being spotted with his sister, Quinn, by us here at KMC. He was limping in the street and upon inspecting found a very large 3-4 inch gash on his left front leg. It looked to be a few days old and he was in pain. We quickly picked him and his sister, Quinn, both up and put them in the truck. We don't pick up every stray simply because we cannot afford it, but when you see an animal in pain you don't leave him behind. Plus, they looked to be young.

Upon inspection we found that the two pups were roughly 6-7 months old, and were related, most likely from the same litter but with different dads. Both dogs had intestinal parasites and were covered in fleas. Upon arriving at KMC we gave them a bath and cleaned them up, cleaned their ears and got both of them inside to sleep on probably what was their first comfy bed. Both dogs were so exhausted and the pads on their feet were worn from running and being on hot pavement for several weeks. We believe they were dumped by a backyard breeder or someone who didn't take care and spay their dog. They were SO thankful to feel good, be clean, and have a nice warm bed to sleep on. They especially loved the consistent meals in their hungry tummies and are SO thankful to be in rescue!

Barnabas has been with us for three weeks now and has come SO far! He was seen by a vet and treated for his ailments. Thankfully his wound was treatable and was healing well with our care, he didn't need any surgery and had no infection to compromise his leg. He was also neutered and given a HW test which was NEGATIVE! Once he gets his last vaccination in two weeks he will be ready to go to his new home!

He has already perfected his crate training and has zero accidents overnight and through the day. He is gaining weight, and is learning all his basics. He socializes on a daily basis with his sister and 12 other dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds. He gets along great with everyone he meets and is exceptional at listening and learning recall and other important training techniques. He is the perfect puppy companion to take anywhere and do anything and he LOVES any attention he can get!
