My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MARIA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Maria is a very gorgeous 2 year old female Olde English Bulldogge. She's had a tough start in life and has finally caught a lucky break. Maria was rescued from a pound in southern IL where she was found as a stray. It is very apparent that in her short life, she's already had many litters of puppies and to her former owner's, this was probably her only duty. Unfortunately Maria came to us with a badly broken elbow that was probably broken for a few months, if not a whole year. Her former owner's never bothered to take her to the vet and allowed poor Maria to live with this pain. She also came to us very pregnant, but in no shape to give birth to a litter of pups. After extensive counseling with veterinarians and surgeons the decision was made to perform an emergency spay to protect the health of a weakened Maria. The decision was also made to amputate her left front leg to make her more comfortable. After all she has been through, Maria holds no grudges!! This dog is an absolute angel. She's grateful for any amount attention she can get and will often fall asleep (snoring of course!) with her head in your lap and as long as you keep rubbing her ears, will remain there for hours! Maria is a very well mannered girl and is really a very gentle, patient soul. She's very laid back, quiet and well behaved in the home and she is completely housebroken as well. She's also good with other dogs, but can be a little bossy when she first meets them. She is not good with cats or other small animals. She is an amazing companion! Maria will not be available for adoption for a few more weeks, however if you would like to help out with Maria's medical bills, which so far have totaled more than $900, we would be forever grateful. If you would like to donate to Maria's medical fund or if you are interested in possibly adopting Maria once she has recuperated please contact animaladoption@hotmail.com.
