My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max is 2-year-old, 20 lb boy who just got rescued from a kill-shelter in South Korea.

Max came to the shelter as a stray puppy with his sister Ruby. They were as cute as buttons, but nobody was interested in them in Korea, where only tiny pure-breed dogs are considered "adoptable". As the shelter became overcrowded, Max and Ruby's days were numbered, and they were soon put on the list to be euthanized. Fortunately, that's when Max and Ruby were rescued.

Max's fur was shaved down due to severe matting at the shelter, but it will grow back to a beautiful cream colored coat. He is nervous and fearful since he has never lived outside of the shelter. He will need to learn how to be a household pet, including skills like walking on a leash and going potty outside, but if you are up for it, he will give back mountains more!

Prior to rescue, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period as the dog learns about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.

*Max will be coming from South Korea to the Fairfax, VA area to find his forever home. If you are interested in Max, please email us with a little info about you: your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city? home or apt?), etc. including a telephone number where we can reach you. Thank you very much, and we hope that Donghae Paws can help you bring a furry family member into your life.
