My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Please read our eligibility requirements and apply on our website: www.ildoberescue.com/adopt.  After application is submitted, additional inquiries can email dobes@ildoberescue.com

Lola is a beautiful, young, red girl who came to us when her owner’s health issues prevented Lola from getting the time and attention she needs. This cute girl is 1 year old, DOB 4-24-15 and is very sweet and a ton of fun! She gets her zoomies once in a while but is overall calm and content chewing on her bone on the living room floor. She loves making new friends (human and canine) and doesn’t hold back when saying hello! Although she is sweet and adorable, Lola has moderate separation anxiety and her foster family has her pretty well figured out and has tips and tricks to offer. She is a crybaby when crated and does better in a bedroom behind a closed door when she has to be alone. She can probably be trusted loose someday! She is not destructive and spends her time sleeping on a twin bed or stategically arranging some bones and toys. She makes it through a full workday with ease and does not have accidents. She is totally housebroken and gives you queues when she needs to do her business. She needs to be in a detached home as she’s too vocal for apartment or condo living. Watchdog alert! Also, Lola is pretty excitable and will need a gentle but consistent hand to curb some of her bad habits (such as jumping up when she’s super-duper happy). She is incredibly smart so training will be fun and rewarding for owner and dog alike! Lola loves to perform and sits on command and also will come running when called. She truly wants to please her people! Since Lola has lots of energy, a fully fenced yard is required to keep her exercised and happy. She loves to trot around and smell the plants and foliage and keeps herself out of trouble. She loves to play with her doggy foster siblings but is probably has too much enthusiam during playtime for small dogs. She will chase cats and wants to play with them but a dog savvy cat will probably be okay as she has never tried to hurt any of her foster family’s cats. She will be fine with older kids, 7 and up, who are used to big rambunctious dogs and don’t mind getting bumped into (or having a foot stepped on) once in a while. Lola is the sweetest girl who can’t wait to find her forever family to snuggle up with.
