My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy! I'm Ralph, a playful, precious, and affectionate 13-pound Chihuahua mix fella with a snaggle-toothed grin who was born about October 2014. I love to snuggle with my foster mom and have my chin rubbed. I am very active and love to run big circles in the back yard when I get to go out. Plus I can jump really high and love to play. My foster mom brags about how smart I am because I learned the 'kennel' command in about three days. I'm crate-trained, but since I love the big dog, I'd rather be loose so I can follow him around like a groupie.
Conditions have not always been as loving and happy as in my foster home. My Schnauzer girlfriend Tanya and I were abandoned on the patio of an apartment when our owners moved away and left us behind. Can you imagine? They didn't spend much time with me, so I was very frightened when I first came to my foster home. At least Tanya came with me, but everything else was new and scary.
At first I growled at my new foster mom, but she was patient with me because she knew I was being defensive because of baggage from my prior owners' neglecting me. Once I realized she was not going to hurt me, I immediately warmed up. After three weeks, I adjusted and am now happy with the whole gang: my foster mom, her big dog, and all the foster cats. When I go to adoptions, I keep my eye on my foster mom so she doesn't wander too far from me. I like the reassurance that I won't get abandoned again.
Now I'm ready for my forever home. My foster mom testifies that I am a great dog and will be a good companion dog for someone who will give me a little time to adjust to my new surroundings. Gee, my snaggle-tooth shows up big-time when I daydream and get a big grin on my face about what my future lifetime family and home will be like. Could that be with you?
