My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi My name is Wilson and I am a boxer mix who is very friendly, laid-back, yet loves to play, is so sweet & eager to please approximately one-year-old love bug ! My physical description short white fur w/ some large, dark brown spots; classic boxer posture. I am now in foster care at the home of Gene & Terre. I was one of the fortunate dogs who were rescued from a NC kill Shelter.
Notes from my foster family:
1. What makes your foster delightful/special? ??
He is utterly endearing; craves love. He is playful like the 1 1/2 – 2 year old puppy he is, and has worked well with our 10 and 12-year old female dogs – a German Shepherd/Boxer and Chow/Lab. Wilson loves to walk, and was tongue-surfing along the dew-soaked grass during a recent early morning walk! He shows little sign of having been neglected, he is a bit of a toy hog, and has worked well with crate training.

2. Cute things your foster does that could be endearing or a personality point that would make people want to meet him/her??
Wilson is a good-looking, healthy boxer boy who enjoys human interaction. He loves walking, playing with other younger dogs, and playing with his favorite toys. Oh, and he loves treats!

3. What kinds of routines and activities does your foster like most???
He loves their “going to work treats” when I Leave in the morning, and then goes into his “house” (crate). He and the other dogs greet me when I come in from school in late afternoon. On weekends, they play in the large fenced in back yard, go on walks, and play.

4. What help or special needs does your foster require??
He’s healthy, well-adjusted, but still a puppy. So Wilson’s energy level is that of a puppy. Going for walks & playing fetch and games with humans and other dogs in enclosed yard is good for him.(obedience classes once adopted is a great investment towards a lifetime of love)

5. Is your foster OK with:?
a) Most other dogs / cats –
Yes to dogs, not sure about cats. Our cat stays outside in the front and side area of our house.
b) Some other dogs ?/ cats (if so which kinds?) –
He gets along with dogs of all ages but he doesn’t do much with older dogs like ours, though they play some; but he really enjoys younger dogs for play.

6. Is your foster OK with cats (are they living w/cats now? Describe how they behave around cats) our cat is an outdoor cat, so no real interaction. with proper introduction to a cat used to dogs he will probably do pretty good. (ask rescue's adoption coordinator for help/tips on how to do introductions)

7. How social is your foster with new people? (describe your foster dog’s behaviors when he meets new people)
He’s a love bug with adult strangers and neighborhood children. But he is a little too large for our 4 year old granddaughter; she loves to love him as long as he stays flat-pawed. (So holding him on a leash and supervision guidance by adult with younger children is recommenced until the dog and child are taught proper interaction)

8. How is He With known people? He’s warm and cute with known people.

9. Describe THE ideal home for your foster?? His ideal home would be one that LOVES spending time walking, hiking, playing and doing activities with Wilson. He is young and I think getting his new foster parent(s) to enroll him in dog obedience will really help him learn to trust you, bond with you and make him much calmer in unfamiliar and social settings. (This rescue really loves when adopters take their new dogs to obedience) He would have a fenced in yard in which to play & explore. And he would have loving humans - even if they have to go off to work - who can spend some time with him. Wilson’s too good to have all this love to give, if he has to go to someone who doesn’t love huggable dogs.

To summarize Wilson: He is the most Loving, handsome young boxer, white with dark brown spots; 1 ½ - 2 years old; well-adjusted and “part of our human and fur family” during his 4+ weeks with us. Has shown no signs of having been abused or fearful from earlier life. Was found as stray, & was held at Animal Shelter and Animal hospital (during vetting) until coming home to our family. He has worked well at manners training – sit, crate training, walking on leash, etc. Is incredibly sweet and appreciative of cuddling!

Animal’s age is: 1 ½ - 2 years old
Animal’s Foster parent is: 62 years old

1) Short synopsis of the animal’s background
Best I know, he was picked up as stray & held at the Shelter; was vetted at Veterinary Hospital, neutered, pronounced healthy (no heartworms or other disease).

2) Issues to be mentioned
He’s a puppy and needs continuing training to help him meet the demands of being a member-of-the- family dog!

3) Special needs and/or considerations
None.?

4) Ideal environment for the animal
He would have a fenced in yard in which to play & explore. And he would have loving humans - even if they have to go off to work - who can spend some time with him. Wilson’s too good to have all this love to give, if he has to go to someone who doesn’t love huggable dogs.

5) Other specifics
None.

Intake Coordinator comments:
1) Provide background on the animal’s circumstances and/or history before coming into _____
